Join us for a night of readings and discussion when Matt Gilbert launches his wonderful debut poetry collection, STREET SAILING – a group of poems which marvels in the spirit of place. His poetry wanders, camera-like, along overgrown tracks through woods, riverbanks and wastegrounds that are rewilding; he takes us on journeys to greening edgelands that spill into urban decay exploring Gipsy Hill and south London.
Special guest spots include Matthew M C Smith, who runs Black Bough Poetry based in Swansea and global poetry fest @TopTweetTuesday on Twitter, plus Crystal Palace based poet Joe Duggan and his latest collection, Rescue Contraptions published by Tall Lighthouse.
The evening will be hosted by Karen McLeod. Tickets £5 (includes a drink)
There is something simultaneously powerful and unsettling about Matt Gilbert’s
writing, as he cuts into the centre of a universal fear: what is it like to be seen –
truly seen – and can we ever recover from this unmasking? – Briony Collins
